Our client, that operates within the public sector, is seeking to strengthen its Enforcement Section with the addition of a Senior Court Litigation Associate.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent the firm in court sittings.
  • Draft, prepare, file, and review judicial acts and related documents required for court proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and provide legal advice as necessary.
  • Liaise and coordinate with external lawyers on court procedures.
  • Ensure court-related deadlines are met and decisions communicated in a timely manner.
  • Prepare thoroughly for court sittings, including witness preparation.
  • Update publications on the firm’s website as required.
  • Manage external legal fees, trackers, and logs.
  • Support the Manager in monitoring, reviewing, and following up on the team’s work.
  • Evaluate, review, and assess team operations and report findings when required.
  • Assist in the implementation and application of enforcement processes.
  • Contribute to recruitment processes when required.
  • Draft and review policies and procedures within the Court Litigation Team and ensure their effective implementation.
  • Assist in planning the team’s operations and goals in line with the Section’s priorities.
  • Provide training internally and externally.
  • Liaise with firms’ units, agents, and external authorities to gather data and documents for proceedings.
  • Testify in court proceedings and present documents on oath on behalf of the firm.
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects and assignments during the year.
  • Represent the firm in international fora as required.

Requirements:
  • LL.D. or M.Adv. Degree (MQF Level 7 or higher) in Law.
  • Warrant to practice as an advocate in the Law Courts of Malta.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ relevant court practice or AML/CFT experience.
  • Strong understanding of AML/CFT laws, international standards, EU Directives, and related Maltese legislation.
  • Familiarity with financial, gaming, and other regulated sectors.
  • Experience in applying AML/CFT legislation is considered an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Maltese and English.
  • Managerial experience considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and office automation tools.
