Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of both the accounting and tax departments, including team management, task delegation, and performance monitoring.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of management accounts, VAT returns, and direct tax filings prepared by the team.
- Lead tax advisory projects for corporate and individual clients, including international tax planning, estate planning, and M&A structuring.
- Ensure timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings, and manage statutory and regulatory filings.
- Establish and enforce accounting and tax policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring compliance with local and international standards (IFRS, GAPSME, Income Tax Act, VAT Act).
- Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and accounting standards and communicate relevant updates internally and to clients.
- Identify and implement workflow improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timely delivery of financial and tax reporting.
- Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring exceptional customer service and timely responses to inquiries.
- Assist with internal training, mentoring, and professional development of team members.
- Support the preparation of technical content such as articles on our website.
- Collaborate with partners on strategic projects and high-value client engagements.
Requirements
- A University degree in Accounting, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Further specialisation in taxation (e.g., Master’s in Tax, ADIT, MIT) is considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a client accounting and/or tax-focused role.
- Strong experience in both compliance and advisory work is highly valued.
- Sound knowledge of IFRS, GAPSME, Income Tax Act, and VAT Act.
- Ability to manage, mentor, and inspire a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
