Our client, that operates within the healthcare sector is looking to hire an Inpatient Booking Officer. The successful candidate will form part of a dynamic and collaborative team and the role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who are detail-oriented, customer-focused, and eager to grow within the healthcare sector.

Responsibilities:
  • Issue detailed quotations for self-pay clients
  • Follow up on quotations to confirm surgery bookings or otherwise
  • Coordinate with Operating Theatre Nursing Officer regarding theatre case bookings
  • Book theatre cases based on theatre, surgeon, and anaesthetist availability
  • Contact patients booked for surgery and explain the admission pathway
  • Provide reminders to patients regarding admission times and fasting requirements
  • Inform patients about revenue settlement (self-pay or insured) and highlight any shortfalls to be settled prior to admission
  • Enter data accurately into the Hospital Information System (HIS) for preparation of theatre lists and patient bookings
  • Issue patient bills accurately and in a timely manner, in line with quotations or insurance agreements
  • Ensure referral forms, quotations, insurance correspondence, and medical reports are attached to the patient record on the HIS
  • Remind surgeons and anaesthetists of procedures planned for upcoming surgery days
  • Liaise with wards/units regarding patient admissions and transfers
  • Process letters and reports, and correspond with colleagues, patients, specialists, and third parties
  • Retrieve and print patient schedules, data labels, and admission forms from HIS
  • Ensure all required billing documents are prepared and follow up on any pending medical reports
  • Follow up with insurance companies regarding guarantees of payment or outstanding matters
  • Attend all mandatory company training sessions
  • Work in accordance with all safe working policies and procedures
  • Keep the Manager informed of any issues or problems and perform other duties as assigned within the department
