Responsibilities
- Lead all court-related procedures within the enforcement function.
- Draft, file, and manage judicial acts and legal documentation.
- Represent the firm in court sittings and liaise with external counsel as needed.
- Oversee the publication and updating of appeal notices and court decisions.
- Manage and guide the Court Litigation team to achieve departmental goals.
- Coordinate resources, conduct performance reviews, and hold one-on-one meetings.
- Evaluate ongoing operations and report to senior management.
- Participate in internal management meetings and recruitment interviews.
- Work closely with other units and external agents to gather case-related documentation.
- Support officers attending court proceedings.
- Monitor external legal fees and recommend training initiatives for the team.
- Participate in the Compliance Monitoring Committee (CMC) when required.
- Provide legal counsel to senior management and the Board of Governors.
- Represent the firm in international working groups and external legal forums.
Requirements
- Education: LL.D. or M.Adv. degree (or equivalent MQF Level 7 or higher legal qualification)
- Warrant: Must be registered or warranted to practice law in Malta.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years in a legal role, including at least 2 years in a senior or leadership capacity.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of AML/CFT legislation, EU directives, and relevant domestic laws, especially in the financial and gaming sectors.
- Skills: Excellent legal drafting, communication, and analytical skills.
- Languages: Fluent in both Maltese and English.
- Technical: Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard office software.
