Our client, that operates within the public sector, is seeking to strengthen its Enforcement Section with the addition of an Associate.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyse compliance reports and submissions received from subject persons relating to AML/CFT obligations.
  • Prepare cases for presentation before the Compliance Monitoring Committee (CMC).
  • Draft enforcement letters and ensure that enforcement decisions and follow-up actions are fully implemented.
  • Supervise the implementation of Directives issued to subject persons.
  • Draft, review, and issue targeted guidance papers in relation to enforcement processes, raising awareness with the public.
  • Provide and assist in AML training and public awareness initiatives.
  • Deliver internal training and enforcement updates as required.
  • Prepare court files and attend court sittings as a witness when needed.
  • Keep managers and superiors updated on plans, actions, and completed work.
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects and assignments throughout the year.
  • Liaise with local and international supervisory authorities regarding enforcement measures.
  • Represent the firm in international fora as required.
  • Report to the Director, Deputy Director, Head of Section, Senior Manager, and Manager.

Requirements:
  • MQF Level 6 qualification in Law, Banking & Finance, Financial Services, Insurance, Accounting, Economics, Criminology, or another relevant subject, with at least 3 years’ relevant experienceOR
  • MQF Level 5 qualification in the same areas with at least 4 years’ relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of AML/CFT laws in Malta, international standards, and EU legislation.
  • Sound understanding of EU Directives and local legislation covering financial services, gaming, and other regulated sectors.
  • Hands-on experience in applying AML/CFT legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Maltese and English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and office automation tools.
