Responsibilities:
- Identifying essential data sources across the sections for the assessment of ML/TF risks, trends, and typologies
- Developing a unified methodology for consistent and harmonised collection of risk-related data
- Collaborating with internal teams, including the Data Management Section, to address data quality and availability issues
- Contributing to the design and development of dashboards to visualise and monitor ML/TF risk data
- Liaising with the National Coordinating Committee on Combating Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism (NCC) for National Risk Assessments and the development of Malta’s AML/CFT Strategies
- Coordinating with internal risk and intelligence teams to carry out threat and vulnerability assessments aligned with national ML/TF risk priorities
- Working closely with the Strategy, Policy and Quality Assurance Section to integrate risk insights into planning and assurance processes
- Sharing risk findings with internal stakeholders to enhance awareness and responsiveness
- Advising senior management on aligning operational goals and strategic priorities with identified ML/TF risks
Enterprise Risk Management Duties:
- Establishing governance structures and policies to support an organisation-wide approach to risk management
- Leading the identification, assessment, and prioritisation of enterprise risks in collaboration with operational and oversight teams
- Maintaining the enterprise risk register with detailed documentation of risk ownership, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies
- Advising on resilience planning and the implementation of effective risk controls
- Supporting the Quality Assurance function with risk-based intelligence for planning and follow-up on audit findings
- Preparing and delivering risk reports to internal governance bodies, incorporating input from all lines of defence
Requirements:
- An MQF Level 6 qualification in Risk Management, Economics, Banking, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
- A minimum of 6 years’ experience in risk management or strategic intelligence analysis, with at least 2 years in a senior role
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to analyse and interpret complex data
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences
- A collaborative and adaptable approach with the ability to work across teams and independently manage projects
- A proactive, self-motivated attitude with strong organisational capabilities
Candidates with the following will be given preference:
- Prior AML/CFT experience
- Familiarity with Maltese AML/CFT legislation, EU directives, and international standards
- Experience using data analysis and visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau
