We are currently assisting our client, who operates within the CSP industry, with finding a Senior Accountant, specialized in VAT to join their team.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and monitor daily bookkeeping activities to ensure accuracy and adherence to established procedures.

  • Liaise with clients to obtain financial information and maintain a clear understanding of their business operations through regular meetings.

  • Maintain complete and accurate accounting records and prepare periodic management reports (monthly, quarterly, and annually).

  • Prepare annual management accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards and company policies.

  • Coordinate and communicate with auditors to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.

  • Manage VAT registrations and ensure full compliance with VAT legislation and reporting obligations for a portfolio of clients.

  • Provide VAT advice, including matters relating to cross-border transactions, partial exemptions, and compliance with Maltese and EU VAT legislation.

  • Assist clients with EXO number applications by preparing and submitting supporting documentation and acting as the primary liaison with the Commissioner for Revenue.

  • Support top management with ad hoc financial analyses, reports, and other finance-related tasks as required.

  • Support the internal team with complex VAT compliance matters, resolving technical queries, and ensuring adherence to statutory deadlines and regulatory changes.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and management accounts preparation.

  • In-depth understanding of Maltese and EU VAT legislation, including cross-border and partial exemption matters.

  • Experience in managing VAT registrations, compliance, and correspondence with tax authorities.

  • Ability to supervise bookkeeping functions and review accounting records for accuracy and completeness.

  • Experience liaising with auditors and regulatory bodies.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare and interpret financial and management reports.

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to explain financial and VAT matters clearly.

  • Ability to stay up to date with technical accounting standards and regulatory changes.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients and meet statutory deadlines.
