AIMS International Malta is assisting one of our clients, who operates as a CSP currently seeking an MLRO to join their organization.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting suspicious transactions and activities to the relevant authorities.
- Submitting periodical reports to the FIAU and the MFSA.
- Providing guidance and assistance to the Compliance Officers appointed for Group entities.
- Coordinating all matters related to financial crime compliance within the Group, including AML/CFT, sanctions, and anti-bribery and corruption.
- Assessing financial crime risk at both the Group level and individual entity level.
- Conducting a de-risking exercise based on the findings of the risk assessment.
- Regularly monitoring internal processes to ensure that all procedures are followed and implemented effectively.
- Periodically checking and reviewing the level of due diligence carried out within the Group and separate entities, including conducting spot-checks.
- Drafting and maintaining up-to-date policies and procedures.
- Establishing systems across the Group to facilitate regular communication and ensure continuous sharing of relevant updates with all entities.
- Managing projects related to the adoption of compliance software applications and the migration of data thereto.
- Developing and delivering effective training programmes to support client-facing employees in keeping them informed about current AML/CFT developments.
- Acting as a point of reference to ensure that all entities within the Group, classified as Subject Persons, comply with AML/CFT rules and regulations as well as other applicable regulations.
- Providing information about customer risk to the Directors of the Group’s Subject Persons to assist in decision-making regarding the onboarding of potential clients or the exit of current clients.
- Keeping up to date with typologies and trends in financial crime matters.
Requirements:
- A university degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
- At least 5 years of experience in an AML/CFT role. 2 of those years in a managerial position.
- In-depth knowledge of AML/CFT laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Expertise in identifying compliance gaps and implementing corrective measures.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and maintain high compliance standards across the Group.
- A strong sense of integrity and accountability in ensuring adherence to AML/CFT regulations.
- Ability to stay up to date with changing regulatory requirements across jurisdictions and proactively address compliance needs.
