Responsibilities:
- Act as audit in-charge on engagements, overseeing and guiding junior staff to ensure work is performed in line with the Audit Methodology and firm quality standards.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage audit engagements in collaboration with management and audit teams, ensuring compliance with professional standards and appropriate risk assessments.
- Monitor engagement progress against agreed plans and timelines, making adjustments as required to ensure timely delivery.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary day-to-day contact and assessing client satisfaction.
- Ensure high audit quality across engagements by setting a strong example and enforcing audit quality standards within the team.
- Review audit work and financial statements, including those of smaller entities within group audit engagements.
- Proactively manage billing, collections, and professional liability considerations.
- Utilise audit technology tools and firm-standard software to enhance audit efficiency, quality, and service delivery.
- Prepare high-quality client correspondence and communicate effectively within engagement teams.
- Foster an efficient, innovative, and team-oriented working environment.
- Manage, motivate, coach, appraise, and identify training and development needs of audit staff.
- Delegate work effectively, monitor progress, and obtain ongoing feedback from both team members and clients.
- Demonstrate strong project and time management skills across multiple concurrent engagements.
- Develop a strong understanding of client industries and identify value-added insights and recommendations.
- Escalate ethical, independence, and conflict-of-interest matters to the Engagement Partner as required.
- Maintain awareness of the Firm’s service lines and contribute to identifying opportunities to apply firm expertise to client needs.
- Take ownership of engagement deliverables and perform other duties within the scope of the role and skill set as required.
Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Fully qualified member of a recognised professional accounting body (ACCA, ACA/CA, CPA, or equivalent).
- Holder of, or eligible to obtain, a Maltese Auditor’s Warrant / Practising Certificate (considered a strong asset).
- Between 4 and 5 years’ experience in an external audit environment with progressive responsibility.
- Proven experience managing audit engagements from planning through to completion and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, and reviewing audit teams.
- Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and sound professional judgement.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and client relationship management skills.
- Fluency in English is essential.
