Our client, operating within the transportation sector, is seeking to recruit a Technical Systems Analyst to join their IT Team in South of Malta. The Technical Systems Analyst will be a part of IT Management Team and report to Director of Technology.

The role does not provide frontline IT support. It focuses on advanced escalation, root cause analysis, and enabling the support team to resolve more issues independently

Responsibilities:

  • Systems & Integration Understanding:

    • Maintain a holistic understanding of our client's IT landscape, including ticketing platforms, bus systems, back-office applications, and data flows.

    • Assess cross-system impacts when incidents occur or changes are proposed.

    • Support consistency and alignment across systems to reduce operational risk and fragmentation.

  • Business-Facing Technical Advisory:

    •  Act as a technical point of reference for business departments in relation to existing systems and operational issues.

    • Support business users in understanding how their processes are supported by IT systems, including capabilities, constraints, and dependencies.

    • Assist business departments in shaping realistic, well-informed requirements and improvement ideas.

    • Provide technical input to assess impacts, risks, and feasibility of proposed changes or initiatives.

  • Advanced Functional & Technical Analysis:

    • Act as a senior functional escalation & analyses point for key platforms including the transport ticketing system, bus systems, and other integrated operational applications.

    • Investigate and resolve complex incidents and recurring issues that cannot be addressed by first-line support.

    • Perform root-cause analysis across applications, data, configurations, and integrations.

    • Use system knowledge and data analysis to distinguish between configuration, data, integration, and genuine software defects before escalation.

    • Validate fixes and data corrections prior to and following deployment into production.

  • IT Support Enablement:

    • Work closely with the IT support team to improve their understanding of system behaviour and common failure patterns.

    • Provide technical guidance and mentoring for IT support staff on functional analysis and troubleshooting techniques.

    • Develop and maintain functional documentation, troubleshooting guides, and known-issue playbooks.

    • Support a gradual shift of recurring issues towards first-line resolution.

  • Project & Change Contribution:

    • Contribute to initiatives and projects of varying size and complexity by providing technical analysis, functional input, and operational insight.

    • Support solution definition, impact assessment, and readiness for support and operations.

    • Work alongside project managers and delivery teams without end-to-end project accountability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology-related field or equivalent practical experience.

  • Proven experience working with business-critical IT systems in an operational environment.

  • Experience in application support, systems analysis, or functional troubleshooting roles.
