Responsibilities:
- Perform turning and machining operations as part of ship repair and refit projects.
- Repair, refurbish, and manufacture shafts, bushings, flanges, sleeves, bearing housings, and other mechanical components.
- Operate conventional and/or CNC lathes to produce precision-machined parts.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and machining instructions.
- Carry out dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments.
- Restore worn or damaged components to required tolerances and specifications.
- Support maintenance and repair teams during vessel refit and overhaul activities.
- Perform machining work in workshops and, when required, onboard vessels.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and safety procedures.
- Maintain machines, tools, and workshop equipment in good working condition.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Turner, Machinist, or Lathe Operator in marine, industrial, or heavy engineering environments.
- Experience in mechanical repair and maintenance activities.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of machining processes and dimensional tolerances.
- Knowledge of shipyard safety procedures and regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
