Our client, a well-established provider of business and commercial services in Malta, is looking to hire a Junior Finance Associate.
In this junior role within the finance team, the Finance Associate will be responsible for posting purchase invoices, journals, and bank statements; maintaining the general ledger; preparing and issuing purchase orders; performing reconciliations; and preparing reports.
Responsibilities:

Transaction Processing & Accounting Support
-
Post purchase invoices, journals, bank statements, and general ledger entries accurately and in a timely manner.

Prepare and issue sales orders and sales invoices across relevant service lines.

Maintain proper filing, documentation, and audit trails in line with internal control and compliance requirements.

Accounts Payable & Procurement Support
-
Prepare and issue purchase orders in line with approved budgets, cost codes, and internal procurement policies.
-
Ensure supplier details, approvals, and supporting documentation are complete and accurate.
-
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Accounts Receivable & Collections
-
Record daily receipts and allocate payments to client invoices accurately.
-
Monitor outstanding receivables, update collection status, and flag overdue balances.
-
Support the preparation of ageing reports and follow up on collection issues where required.

Reconciliations & Controls
-
Perform bank reconciliations and ledger balance reconciliations on a regular basis.

Investigate, track, and resolve accounting discrepancies or documentation issues.
-
Support month-end activities by ensuring transactions are complete, accurate, and properly recorded.

Reporting & Stakeholder Support

Prepare and provide system-generated reports such as receivable statements, transaction listings, and historical billing data.

Support in responding to internal accounting queries from business teams and provide timely, accurate information.

General & Ad-Hoc Duties
-
Support continuous improvement of finance processes and documentation.

Carry out other finance-related duties aligned with the role and level, as required.

Requirements:
-
Minimum qualification requirement of an A Level certificate in Accounting.
-
AAT qualification would be considered an asset.
-
Be able to work independently with minimum supervision while being a good team player.

Be computer literate and conversant with Microsoft Office applications, mainly Excel, Outlook and Word.

Be organised and reliable with attention to detail.

Be able to handle multiple tasks.

Be fluent in written and spoken of both Maltese and English languages.

Be creative and have strong organisational skills.

Have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Have a positive attitude with a ‘can do’ approach.
